ABOUT US

Horton Mill Community Primary School opened in September 1990, and in so doing, joined the three existing schools in serving the community of Glodwick.

At Horton Mill we have: 30 places in our Nursery; and 30 places available for each year group in Key Stage 1 and 35 in Key Stage 2.

We approach learning in a variety of ways to enable us to recognise and enlarge upon the wealth of experiences that our children bring to the school.Great value is placed on providing a meaningful context for learning experiences that develop skills and attitudes which gradually enable our children to take responsibility for their own learning.

Throughout the school day children may work individually, in groups or as a whole class.

We aim to provide a rich, stimulating and diverse curriculum, of which the National Curriculum is a part. Children will explore and learn through activities that encompass the following areas of the curriculum.

More information on our curriculum is contained in our policies which are kept in the family room, for you to read.Some children, from time to time, may have specific needs or experience difficulty with some aspects of their learning or behaviour. We aim to support them with a modified approach to the curriculum and, where possible extra support.
