ABOUT US

This is a voluntary aided school, and traces its roots back to around 1845 when it was founded by Lord Stanley, Earl of Derby, and the Rev. John Cross of Red Scar.

The School moved to the present building in 1953 and has undergone enlargement and modernisation in keeping with the Governors' policy of development and improvement. You will be aware that a major development is underway at present.

The School has strong links with our village Church of St. Peter's and the Christian element is an integral part of the school's ethos.

MISSION STATEMENT

St. Peter's Church of England (Aided) Primary School openly declares and celebrates that Christ is at the heart of the school and all its activities.

Our school provides an attractive, welcoming and caring environment in which children are nurtured and encouraged to reach their highest potential.

The school cultivates the values of Christian love, forgiveness, reconciliation and mutual respect for all. We encourage and promote the strengthening of links between home, school, church and the wider community for the benefit of all.

PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT

It is well know that children show greater interest in their school work when parents are willing to spend a short time each day heading them read, helping with homework and generally showing their support of what happens at school.

We value parents' input and contribution and try to maintain a dialogue with you. We do this through various means, including regular communications home, a notice board in the entrance as well as access to all previous correspondence relating to the school.

Open evenings/days provide a formal occasion for you to discuss your child's work and development, but we are always ready to make appointments with parents/guardians to discuss children's progress. A written report is provided at the end of each school year which includes the results of any Key Stage Assessments.
