''Leigh C.E. Infants’ School seeks to provide a happy, caring environment which promotes high standards of learning within a Christian context, whilst ensuring equal opportunities for all and enabling pupils of all abilities to reach their full potential.

We have six registration classes and children work within a variety of groupings within their own age group, according to ability, friendship groups, gender, etc.

The curriculum is everything which is planned, taught and evaluated throughout school, based on the National Curriculum framework.

Reception children engage in activities based on six areas of learning-language and literacy, mathematics, knowledge and understanding of the world, physical, creative and personal and social.

We achieve very high standards in reading, writing and mathematics and our children are encouraged to begin reading as soon as possible. Our core reading scheme is Oxford Reading Tree and we involve parents in their children’s progress.

The children participate in a variety of practical activities through out the day and are encouraged to be independent in their learning whilst co-operating with each other.

Children in Years 1 and 2 follow the National Curriculum framework and there is a great emphasis on the development of skills in Literacy, Numeracy and ICT.
