Little Digmoor delivers a broad and balanced, enriched National Curriculum.
English, Mathematics and Science are the Core Subjects and the greatest amount of time is spent working in these areas.
The DfES has emphasised the importance of teaching ICT (Information Communication Technology, including Computers) and strengthened the teaching of Religious Education.
The remaining subjects, which make up the Primary Curriculum are History, Geography, Physical Education (PE), Art and Design, Design Technology, Music and Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE).
All these areas are essential in the delivery of a broad and balanced curriculum. In addition, there are some areas of study, which cut across subject boundaries such as Road Safety and Environmental Education, which are also taught at school.
All schools have received information from QCA (Qualifications and Curriculum Authority) approved by the Government for the teaching of Science, ICT, Geography, History, Design Technology and now for Music, Art and PE. We have adapted our schemes in school in order to incorporate their advice. This means that these subjects are taught through Study Units where information and skills build on each other over time.
We think that this is a good way of working. All these ideas on the curriculum are fused to form the Primary Curriculum, which is taught at school.
