| ABOUT US
Manor Beach is a County Primary school maintained by the Lancashire Education
Authority. There are fourteen classes, two for each age group having an equal mix of
boys and girls and reflecting the full range of abilities. The admission number is 60
per year group.
We hope to provide a caring and stimulating environment for your child through a wide
range of balanced learning opportunities.
We try to create a happy and stable working atmosphere, with good relations between
children and teachers, teachers and parents.
|
| - To provide an environment where individual children may realise their true potential;
academically, socially, physically and aesthetically.
- To enable all children to acquire knowledge and skills relevant to adult life and
employment in a rapidly changing world. We must help the children to develop lively
and enquiring minds, to have the ability to question and argue rationally and to apply
themselves to tasks and physical skills.
- To help all children know and appreciate their own strengths and weaknesses; to help
them experience and recognise success in some area of their school life and to take
pride in that achievement.
- Thus we hope to develop an 'educated' individual with character and
personality, able to cope with the stresses and strains of life.
|
| The school aims to fulfil the requirements of the National Curriculum and to develop
the full potential of each child. By creating a happy and caring atmosphere the
children can learn the skills of Literacy and Numeracy, and through an exciting and
stimulating environment be encouraged to investigate, discover and create. The
curriculum will be broad and balanced and take heed of recent changes in society and
technological advances and is reviewed regularly on an internal and external basis.
The children are taught mainly by one class teacher although occasionally by another
member of staff who may be a specialist in a particular subject. The teachers use a
variety of teaching approaches to provide the most effective learning situation and to
offer the maximum benefit of their expertise. |
| A wide range of extra-curricular activities are available to the pupils.
The majority are limited to children in the junior classes and parents
will be informed termly of arrangements. |
