ABOUT US

MISSION STATEMENT

  • This school provides an environment where all children can achieve their full potential within a caring Christian community, which encourages the values of love, care and respect.
  • In this school, all staff support the Christian ethos.
  • Collective worship is at the centre of daily life in this school.
  • This school emphasises strong links between home, school, church and the community.
  • This school gives high priority to the spiritual and moral development of children within the context of a Christian family.

ORGANISATION

Children are currently organised in seven classes each covering one academic year group. The class teachers are responsible for the majority of the teaching and pastoral care of the children in their class, although classes are occasionally rearranged to make smaller groups for certain subjects - especially maths. Specialist teachers may take certain aspects of the curriculum - notably music, games and science.

In the main, children of different abilities are catered for within the class. Children who need extra help are taught for part of the time in smaller groups, and the help of the reading language service, E M A and the school psychological service are used wherever appropriate to their needs. Special Support Assistants are used for some time every day in each class.

CURRICULUM OVERVIEW

Your child’s work in school will be based on the programmes of study as laid down in the Revised National Curriculum. Statutory requirements have been published in Maths, English and Science.

History, Geography, Music, Art, Technology, PE and R E are taught in accordance with Lancashire’s agreed syllabus. A copy of L E A ‘s Statement of curriculum policy is available from the head teacher. A daily act of worship is held which is mainly Christian in nature, although other major world faiths are both recognised and valued. Parents have the right to withdraw their children from the daily act of worship and Religious Education.
