Our school aims to provide the highest quality of education for all and reflects our belief that every student in our care has the potential for success. It is our job to tap into that potential so that all students are proud of their individual achievement and leave us with the knowledge, skill, confidence and optimism to contribute fully as active citizens in a rapidly changing society.

We have created a caring, stimulating and well-disciplined learning environment in which teachers can teach and learners can learn. Following a period of rebuilding and refurbishment, we now have some of the best learning facilities in the area. Our curriculum is broad and balanced and creates opportunities for all. Enrichment activities and master classes stretch the most able and individual support is available for those who find learning more challenging. Our partnership with other schools, colleges, training providers and community groups ensure that pathways into further education and employment are secure.

To create a successful school as part of a vibrant educational community:

  • a school which is challenging, stimulating and exciting for students and staff alike;
  • a school which demands good attendance and punctuality and takes pride in its dress, manners, relationships and behaviour;
  • a school where examination results reflect the full potential of each student, where extra-curricular activities flourish and self-esteem is promoted at every opportunity;
  • a school at the heart of the community where learning is for all ages, where community groups can benefit from our facilities and where the professional development of colleagues is an integral part of every day.

On the 4th July 2006, Accrington Moorhead High School was awarded specialist college status in SPORT. It is wonderful news and everyone is proud to be part of the school. It would not have been achieved without everyone’s help.

Specialist status can only accelerate our desire to drive up standards, improve the quality of learning and teaching and to work with the community.
