ABOUT US

Our small, caring school is situated in the heart of Moorside village and is sited next to Our Lady's Catholic Church. We have worked hard to develop and improve links with parents, parish and wider community. These links are characterised by high levels of parental satisfaction and support.

We are proud of the quality of education which we provide at Our Lady's and the support which we receive from the parish and the community. You are most welcome to arrange to visit the school by arrangement with the Head teacher.

The aims of our school are:

• to provide the highest standards in the context of a truly Catholic education
• to provide for the academic, spiritual, moral, physical and cultural well being of every child
• for all children to learn by example in a Christian, caring, family atmosphere where each child is valued and guided to recognize and develop their full potential
• to promote a positive learning process so that all our children may become responsible and enthusiastic participants in the school and wider community

Parents are most welcome to visit the school at any time, but during the summer term before entry new parents will be invited to an evening meeting. We will also send an invitation to your child to come to school for an afternoon and spend some time in the new class with their new teacher. This serves as an "Ice-breaker" and enables them and their new teacher to get to know each other and to enable the children to sample a few school activities. At the evening meeting, which is for parents only, there will be a booklet available which explains how new children at school can be helped to be as self-reliant as possible - eg. removing outdoor clothing, using the toilet properly, washing and drying hands etc. Also advice will be offered on educational matters and there will normally be school uniform on display.
