Palatine has made significant progress in recent years, our latest Ofsted Inspection reported us to be 'an improving and increasingly popular school where standards and achievements are rising'. Recent KS3 and KS4 exam performances support this judgement, the last 2 years has seen record performances from our students.

As a school we place an emphasis on developing 'rounded individuals'. To embed a positive ethos we offer a wide range of extracurricular opportunities to all students. We have an active House System and achieving Sports College status has further supported our values. All students are allocated to one of four Houses which are named after Olympic heroes and whose names will be reviewed after each Olympic Games. The Houses are:

• LEWIS HOUSE
• THOMPSON HOUSE
• MOORHOUSE HOUSE
• REDGRAVE HOUSE

Palatine was designated as a Specialist Sports College in September 2004. Our bid to become a Sports College was successful due to our rigorous yet imaginative plans for working in the field of PE, Sport and Leisure Activity not just in school but also within the local community. The guiding principle underlying the process is one of partnership between the Government, the school and the local community. On its part the Government provides Palatine with a significantly increased level of funding – in effect £100,000 towards a major building project and £125,000 per year for four years. On its side, Palatine has to meet agreed targets through a School Plan and a Community Plan.
