Rishton Methodist Controlled Primary School will develop, educate and nurture the whole child to his or her potential within the context of Christian beliefs, practice and values.

The school buildings were remodelled to provide a new entrance hall, enhanced library facilities, administration and staffroom accommodation. The governors have made great progress in securing high levels of classroom support throughout the school. Pupils can take advantage of instrumental tuition in the junior department. The pupils are encouraged to become involved in deciding the direction of the school through the School Council. The school has been awarded Quality Standards in two areas of the Lancashire Healthy Schools Programme.

The school is striving

• to continue the development of Information Technology as a teaching and learning tool.
• Continue the utilization of pupil tracking procedures to improve pupil achievement in Numeracy and Literacy ,especially at KS2
• Develop increasingly sophisticated methods for setting curriculum targets at both individual and class level
• To develop the school response to the Every Child Matters agenda as part of the school PSHE programme
• To continue efforts to extend curriculum enrichment to allow pupils to develop their creative skills.
