As a pioneering university with a dynamic vision of the future, the research that is undertaken at the University is central to all our activities: it enhances our teaching and learning, and enriches the experiences of our staff and students. We currently rank fifth in the UK for
research excellence.
To further enhance our reputation and performance, we have identified a number of Collaborative Research Networks - strategic areas of study which are of worldwide importance and generic areas of technical skills that must be sustained and developed to allow the research themes to be exploited.
Collaborative Research Networks initiate, promote and maintain inter-disciplinary research around the nine major research themes and the four enabling technologies. They bring together the expertise and skills which allow us to develop new research activity.
We'll continue to be at the forefront of world research well into the 21st century.
