Birmingham and the Media
At Birmingham we like the spotlight. Because the range of subjects we offer is one of the widest in the UK, and we're based in one of the country's most dynamic and diverse major cities, we have a lot to offer the media.
We’re also keen to support academics and other colleagues keen to get into the news. Our dedicated 5 person news team is on call at all times to help journalists get the opinions and the information they need. We can point you in the direction of our 400 academic experts, trained in dealing with the media.
In fact we run one of the largest programmes of media training in the sector to make sure we do answer the question and ensure that our colleagues are as skilled in front of the camera as they are in their own professional lives. We realise that it is essential for anyone in a position of responsibility to understand the power of the media and the need for public accountability. What’s more, we understand the very real pressures journalists face when putting stories out.
Our own broadcast radio facilities, on-site TV studios and ISDN connectivity demonstrate our commitment to the public face of the University, and we’re in good company as the BBC and Sky both have bases at the University.
We're always hungry for news and leads - so whether you’re in need of a contact or an outlet, let’s be in touch.
