The University's Research and Scholarship Strategy was updated recently to reflect the increasing emphasis that the University is placing upon research. The Strategy's aims are to:
- Maintain and expand research volume across all schools and departments
- Improve the quality of research
- Promote technology and knowledge transfer
Research is a vital part of our work at the University of Chester. We value your interest whether it is as a future postgraduate student, as a prospective employee, as a user of our research contract and consultancy capability or as a fellow researcher.
The University has a number of areas of research excellence ranging across the natural sciences, social sciences, arts and humanities and applied areas such as Nursing and Midwifery, Business and Management, and Education.
If you join us as a postgraduate student you may study full time or part time and you would join a growing community of postgraduates who work closely with leading researchers.
All academic posts at the University contribute to our research activities and as a new member of staff you would be supported to develop your research capability and productivity.
The Research Strategy of the University lays emphasis on knowledge transfer into the immediate and wider community. We would be very interested in any opportunities to undertake contract research or engage in consultancy for business, health, education, the public services and voluntary organisations. You will find various contact points in the Business and Community section but if in doubt please contact me directly.
Most research depends on partnership and we are keen to form partnerships with postgraduate students, academic colleagues and community organisations to learn together and to put our knowledge to work.
Thank you for your interest.

Director of Research and Knowledge Transfer
