Programme fees and cost of living

As a postgraduate student at Cranfield, you will need funds to pay your tuition fees, living and other incidental expenses. Tuition fees vary, depending on the course you intend to study. Contact the Enquiries Office for precise fees. Annual living expenses for our students are estimated as:

  • Single student: £7,500 minimum
  • Couple: £10,500 minimum + £2,000 per child.

Due to the intensity of our programmes we recommend that you do not rely on part-time work to help finance your studies.

Many postgraduate students find that by putting together a funding package drawing from savings, earnings, small grants and loans or bursaries, they are able to undertake postgraduate study. However, if you are uncertain about funding, apply anyway. You can then contact the relevant Cranfield department for information or discuss funding at interview. This is important, as there may be sources of funding for exceptional candidates known to the school or department.

Possible sources of funding are outlined within this site but please be aware that, in most cases, funding is usually discussed once you have secured an offer of a place on your chosen course.

Research Councils

A number of Research Councils cover our work, including:

Research studentships

If you are considering applying to complete a PhD, please check our website for information on studentship opportunities which are usually available in specific areas of research. As well as covering the costs of fees, they may also provide a bursary for a three year period of study. Conditions apply to each studentship opportunity.

Applicants are advised that the award of a degree or diploma at the end of a course is conditional on satisfying the University examiners. Adequate funding MUST be secured for fees AND living expenses before registration. Unlike many UK universities, Cranfield University does not charge a graduation fee for attendance at the appropriate graduation ceremony held in June or July.
