At Somervale, challenge, learning and growth are provided for everyone.
Challenge we insist on high standards and we provide a curriculum that meets every students¹ needs. Particular emphasis is placed on ensuring all students develop the basic skills in English and Maths as well as having a greater degree of choice as they get older. We place great emphasis on good standards of behaviour and appearance, which are essential for the creation of a calm and productive environment for learning.
Learning we provide the best possible teaching to give our students every opportunity to succeed. Somervale has committed and experienced teachers who enjoy working with our young people and who are dedicated to their well-being. They are very ably assisted by an equally committed support staff. Somervale¹s specialist status as a Media Arts College means the school possesses an enviable range of resources which enhance students¹ learning.
Growth we care for each and every individual and we provide a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities to enrich every student¹s experience. There is a strong system of pastoral care and support at Somervale and we believe in openly rewarding effort and achievement.
We have a strong governing body whose members take a keen interest in the work of the school as well as a lively parents¹ and friends¹ association which works unstintingly for the benefit of our students.
I am very privileged to be the head teacher of Somervale School. Everyone at the school is committed to working with the students and their parents to help our young people to be good members of society and to achieve as highly as possible.
About Somervale School
Somervale is situated on an attractive, open site with extensive playing fields, close to the centre of Midsomer Norton. Our modern, well-equipped buildings were first opened in 1965 and were extensively added to in the 1970s. It is a Bath and North East Somerset Authority community school for girls and boys from 11 to 19.
In September 2000 Somervale became a specialist Media Arts College and enjoys the benefits of the very latest technology and technical expertise.
Somervale School follows the schools admissions policy laid down by Bath and North East Somerset. As a specialist Media Arts College the governors have chosen not to exercise their right to select any students on aptitude.
For further information about admissions please contact Lorraine Milverton at Somervale School or the Transport & Admissions Department at Bath and North East Somerset (01225 477000).
