Statement of Belief

At Weston all Saints C. of E. V.C. Primary School we believe that high expectations together with quality teaching in comparatively small classes helps children to work towards reaching their full potential.

We choose to use ability grouping for some lessons where we believe it benefits children's learning. We believe that high achievers, as well as low achievers, can have special needs.

We believe that children learn best in a warm, caring environment where every effort is made to foster strong relationships between children, adults and the community.

We value our strong links with Weston All Saints Church and the Christian foundation of the school is reflected in many aspects of school life.

We value the additional relationships and interaction that children at WASPS experience through our partnership with Institutions of Higher Education.

We have a particular commitment to the Performing and Creative Arts, believing that children's creativity should be developed to enhance their learning and their self-confidence.

We believe in the importance of positive self esteem for all children.

At WASPS there are many things that make us unique. We try and provide a broad range of opportunities and services to enhance our school.

Healthy Tuck

We participate in the Government's Fruit and Vegetable scheme for infant children whereby each day the children receive a piece of fruit or vegetable each day at break time.

This proved to be so popular that we quickly extended the scheme to KS2 children as well. Here children pay just 10 pence a day to receive their healthy tuck.

Breakfast and

After School Clubs

For the benefit of working parents WASPS offers child care provision between 8:30 and 8:50 am at our Breakfast Club and between 3:20 and 5:30 pm in our After School Club

The clubs are reasonably priced. Children receive either breakfast or a drink and a snack whilst attending. Our children greatly enjoy these clubs and value time spent with their friends in a supervised environment by staff from WASPS. Their experience is enhanced by the school's beautiful grounds.

Checkerboard Gardens

Our award winning Checkerboard Gardens are a constant source of pleasure for the whole school, especially in the summer months. Children are encouraged to take "ownership" of a garden square after applying for and signing a "contract". The children then plant the square with flowers, herbs while decorating it with rocks and pebbles. In the summer the whole Checkerboard Garden is a blaze of colour and is a wonderful sight!

Children are often winners in the Bath in Bloom competition and we hold our own school competition annually. Every year some children help to create an entry for the B&NES Wheelbarrow competition.

WASP Offers:

  • a progressive programme of educational and residential visits
  • regular wide ranging variety of after school clubs
  • opportunities for private music tuition in many instruments
