Brookmead School has a very special role in a very special community.  In a village environment, it is particularly important for a school to be close to the families of the children it serves, and to be something everyone can support and be proud of.

This leaflet encapsulates what Brookmead is all about - our vision for the future, the mission we are here to deliver, and the values that we live by.  They have been developed by the staff and governors, but they also take account of input from children and parents.  The statements serve as a framework for our policies, strategies and plans.  We are delighted to have this opportunity to share them with you.

To strive for excellence in:

  • LEARNING together through an enriching, high-quality curriculum and continuous professional development

  • LIVING together in a safe, secure school and community

  • GROWING together into able, responsible and successful citizens

  • GIVING together to enrich the lives of all in our community

Our vision, and our policies and practices, are underpinned by the following values:

ATMOSPHERE:   We believe in creating an atmosphere of achievement that challenges, supports and values every member of the school community in realising their full potential.  All members of the school community should support, and be supported by, each other in an atmosphere of mutual respect.

PUPILS:   Our pupils are the most important members of the school community, and we are committed to their emotional wellbeing as well as their academic achievements.  We want them to be proud to be members of Brookmead School, self-assured, confident, and sharing in a common goal both as individuals and as a group.

STAFF:   Our staff are our greatest asset.  We will value and support them in their continuous professional development and in optimising their work/life balance, thus maintaining their quality, motivation and commitment.

SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT:  We will strive to provide a safe and secure environment for everyone associated with the school, with modern and stimulating facilities

STAKEHOLDERS AND THE COMMUNITY:  The whole community has an interest in Brookmead School, whether direct or indirect.  We want the school to have a high profile locally, and for parents and other stakeholders to play a part in the school's success, helping us develop young citizens who reflect the best of society's values.  We will communicate our needs to the local community and ensure that they are aware of our successes as well as our problems.
