WELCOME!
From the Head Teacher, Mrs Heather Curry
Welcome to Dunton Lower School!
A very warm welcome and thank you for visiting the web site of Dunton VC Lower School. We hope you enjoy this glimpse of the work of our school. We always enjoy having visitors to our school and would love to see you in person, so why not come along some time.
Our school is situated in the village of Dunton, which is approximately three miles from the market town of Biggleswade, in Bedfordshire. The school dates back to Victorian times and was originally built in 1858.
We are a small village school that caters for children aged 4+ to 9 years. Currently we have two large, airy classrooms to cater for key stage 1 and key stage 2 children and we now also have a new classroom for the foundation stage. We have small classes with a high adult to child ratio. Dunton has just moved into a new phase by sharing a Headteacher and becoming Federated with Wrestlingworth VC Lower School.
The school is part of the community and has close links with the local church, St Mary Magdalene. The vicar, Rev. Ann Manning visits the school on a weekly basis to take assembly. The governors of the school are very supportive and we have an extremely active Parents, Teachers and Friends Association, which is responsible for organising many fund-raising events.
At Dunton we foster a happy, caring and family atmosphere. We believe that each individual is special and encourage them to achieve their full potential. We encourage the children to be well mannered at all times and to be respectful both towards each other and adults.
