Welcome to our school
Headteacher's Welcome
“Creative thinkers for life”
We know exactly the kind of education we are aiming to give your children throughout their seven years with us ... an education that develops skills for learning.
We have developed our own twelve learning principles that embody how we teach and learn at Ashton Gate. Everything we do is based on our shared belief in teaching and learning by doing, in a life-affirming way. We aim to make learning real, relevant, and exciting!
ADMISSION
The curriculum for early years
Each child has a spark in him/her. It is the responsibility of the people and institutions around each child to find what would ignite that spark. —Howard Gardner
At Ashton Gate we feel this is our main task: to ignite the spark in your child; to bring enthusiasm, understanding and sensitivity to them as they start out in their school lives. We nurture and cherish the individual in each child. The best way to do this in the early years is to give them as many open opportunities as we can.
Young children learn best through play, first-hand experience, and talk. —The Early Childhood Education Forum
Children in the Nursery and Reception classes follow the curriculum for the Foundation Stage, which has an emphasis on learning through play and building self-confidence. The curriculum has six areas of learning, each one interwoven to educate the whole child.

Ashton Gate Out of School Care has been developed to support parents and carers by providing wraparound care for children aged four to eleven.
We run a Breakfast Club, an After School Club and Holiday Playschemes.
We have a small team of trained and dedicated Playworkers who are committed to providing high-quality care in a child-centred play setting that promotes equality of opportunity for all.
We are registered with, and regulated by Ofsted. A copy of our registration certificate will be on display in the setting at all times.
