Great Kingshill School

We are a voluntary aided school catering for children aged 4-11. We are located just north-west of High Wycombe and serve a predominantly rural community.

ABOUT OUR SCHOOL

Great Kingshill is a school in which your children will encounter a happy atmosphere that is both stimulating and caring and will  help your child achieve their potential.

We are extremely proud of all that goes on here. As our website demonstrates, the children are supported in their learning by dedicated staff, governors and parents.

School Mission :

At Great Kingshill Combined School, we aim to create a caring, secure and stimulating environment in which all children are enabled to develop intellectually, spiritually, socially, morally and physically to gain an understanding of the diverse cultural society in which they live.

As a school, we encourage mutual respect and realise that everybody's values have their importance.  We encourage pupils to develop their own set of values and discuss these with others.

We provide children with a multi-cultural approach to education, with emphasis on Christian values.

At Great Kingshill, we strive to develop partnerships with local churches, parents, guardians, carers and the local community in order to create and sustain a professional learning environment.  This maintains a positive profile of the school within our local community.

I encourage you to browse around our website. You will find details of school events, visitors and activities that serve to enliven the curriculum.

History of our School:

A school has stood on this site since 1874, the original funding coming from members of the Disraeli family (who lived in Hughenden Manor) and Eton College.   The School opened with 15 pupils and has expanded in phases over the intervening years. The school now has a new ICT suite ,large library, a small school hall, an adventure playground, outdoor swimming pool and fourteen classrooms...with possible future developments.

Parents have a duty to ensure that their children arrive at School in good time for a prompt start to the first teaching session at 8:50 am.   Children should arrive at School between 8:35 and 8:45 am and may go to their classrooms from 8:40 am.   Children who are not already in their classrooms should go there immediately the School bell is rung.  Parents should leave their children on the playground or at the classroom door, as we want to encourage children to become independent right from the start of their school day.  Staff need to start work with pupils immediately the bell is sounded.
