A Brief History

Heronsgate was built in 1990. The school was named when nesting herons on Caldecotte Lake, were spotted by the first head Mrs Isles during an early journey to the school. This picture shows the school under construction. We opened with 60 children and now have over 460 on role. Originally Heronsgate was a combined school for children from 5 to 12 years of age. We then became a middle school for 8-12 year olds. In September 2005 we became a junior school for children aged 7-11. Welcome to our new year 3 and 4 children. This was a big change for the school. We have had a number of headteachers since Mrs Isles; Mr Green, Mr Holt  and our current head Mr Harper.

Welcome to the parent’s section of our website.

If there is anything you would like us to include please e-mail the school.

What Do The Student Council Do?

The Student Council decide what might improve the school.  They discuss ideas and suggestions brought to the council by class representatives. They might  organise  special charity days such as Jeans for Genes day, suggest how the playground might be improved and what equipment should be bought for school. There are two representatives for each class and roughly every 2-3 weeks they have a meeting and discuss what each class have asked or reported. After that, Jake - the Chairman - talks to Mr Harper to tell him about what was discussed in the the last meeting, then Mr Harper can see what he can do. The representatives then go back to their class and inform them of the decisions.
