The above after-school activities are organised on a voluntary basis.  Occasionally it is necessary to cancel for a variety of reasons, eg meetings, weather etc and wherever possible children are informed in good time during assembly and again during registration.  In the event of activities being cancelled at the last minute children will be allowed to contact their parents by telephone.  Please provide your preferred contact number below.  We would request parents do not routinely telephone school to check whether or not activities are going ahead – we only have one telephone line and such calls prohibit us from making outgoing calls.  In the event of bad weather Netball and Hockey will only go ahead if courts are dry.  Football usually goes ahead in all weather and children should be equipped accordingly.

If your child would like to participate in any of these activities would you please complete the slip below and return it to his/her class teacher.

Parent helpers are always needed to help run these activities – please contact the staff member if you are interested in participating.

Mission Statement

St John’s C of E Combined School exists in the community to provide all round excellence in education, developing and       nurturing the intellectual, artistic, social, spiritual and physical resources of each child in a Christian context, enabling all pupils to achieve their full potential in a caring environment.

Please note that these are not listed in any particular order of importance.

To encourage pupils to develop lively, enquiring minds with a clear ability to listen attentively, question keenly, argue rationally and act honestly.

To develop pupil’s power of observation, logical thought and communication, especially the capacity to use language and number in a way appropriate to each situation.

To equip pupils with the skills, knowledge and attitudes which will help them to live adult lives as self-respecting, self motivated and competent individuals, able to make informed and reasoned choices for themselves, having regard to the needs of others.

To enable pupils to learn and appreciate the scale and scope of human achievement, past and present in the arts, sciences and technology and to encourage their own individual creative talents to be expressed.

To encourage the development of moral and spiritual values and the will to base life and behaviour upon them; of respect and understanding towards other races, religions and cultures.

Curriculum policies: Each subject area has its own policy and there are a total of 24 separate policies. Overlaying these is the school policy on Learning and Teaching which explains how lessons are planned, children are taught, work is assessed and subject areas are monitored and evaluated.
Management policies, of which there are currently 34, cover areas such as health and Safety, People Management and Premises related issues.
