Welcome to Westcott Church of England School

Thank you for visiting our school website!

Welcome to the New Term of 2007 / 08.
We are all ready for this new term relaxed, fresh, full of energy for the work we have ahead us.

Westcott school is situated in a rural village to the west of Aylesbury.
We are based in Buckinghamshire close to the larger village of Waddesdon.

We are a small and friendly school for children aged 4-7. We have a caring, family atmosphere with excellent standards of care and education.

About Our School

We are sure you will enjoy your visit to our website.

Westcott C of E School is a small school that values standards and achievement.

We are extremely proud of all that goes on here.

As our website demonstrates, the children at Westcott are supported in their learning by dedicated staff, governors and parents.

Take a look around:

We encourage you to browse around our brand new website.

You will find details of school events, awards and activities that serve to enliven the curriculum, alongside information about extra curricular activities that the children have enjoyed.

Dates for your diary:

Soon our Calendar section will provide you with a comprehensive lisiting of all of the important forthcoming events and term dates - make sure you have your diary handy.

I look forward to seeing you in school!

Best Wishes, Julie Hickey

PFA

The Parents' and Friends' Association meets once or twice a term to discuss fundraising events.

We are a group of dedicated mums and dads organising events to raise money that directly benefits our children. We also arrange specific events that contribute to local charities, aswell as our school.

Our meetings are informal and we have lots of fun raising money.
The PFA funds provide coach trips for regular outings.

The PFA contributed significantly towards the wonderful roundhouse, our authentic iron age hut.

AIMS OF THE SCHOOL

These are:

1. To provide an environment in which each child may develop intellectually, emotionally, spiritually and physically to the best of their ability and to help them reach their full potential.

2. To make the school a happy and caring environment in which the children can make the best of themselves

Criteria for admission to Westcott C of E School.

Where there are more applications than places, application will be considered against the following criteria:

1 Resident in the catchment area of Westcott, Ashendon and Woodham .

2 Family connections where siblings are already within the school.

3 Parents who attend church regularly and wish their children to be
educated in a Church of England School.

4 Emotional reasons, i.e. children who would benefit from a small, secure, environment, where they would receive more individual atttention.

5 A child who already attends the nursery attached to the school.

The Governors recognise that some parents may find it difficult to apply under the above criteria and therefore they would be prepared to be sympathetic to specific cases that parents may wish to make.

Arrangements for visits.

Every child will be given the opportunity to visit the school on at least two occasions before the start of their first term. Each visit takes place during the school day.

The first visit consists of an informal discussion regarding the school policies and the school curriculum and also gives an opportunity for the parents and children to visit all areas of the school.

On subsequent visits children will spend the morning in their new clas. Other visits are welcome, but should be made by appointment.
