Hello and welcome to Churchwood's website

Churchwood School is situated in beautiful Church  Wood woodland in Church In The Wood Lane, next to the old Church In The Wood Church.

Churchwood CP School is located in St Leonards which was a popular
Victorian seaside resort. St Leonards is part of the town Hastings which is famous for one of the most well known dates in history, 1066  The Battle of Hastings. Hastings and St Leonards  are in the county of East Sussex.

Churchwood Community Primary School is a primary school for children aged 3 to 11. We have 224 children at the school organised into 6 single age classes and a thriving nursery.

Please find out more about our wonderful caring school by taking a school tour, reading a letter of welcome from Churchwood's headteacher Mrs Jan Gough, or following many of the links on our site.

Churchwood is a school where everyone :
· achieves their own personal excellence,
· has high expectations and the confidence to reach their goals,
· develops spiritually, morally and culturally,
· supports each other and works together as a team,
· celebrates achievements with each other.

It is a school that is dedicated to achieving excellence through:
· happy, motivated, independent learners,
· a stimulating, creative, challenging learning environment,
· children with a high self esteem, a positive self image and a pride in themselves,
· a safe, secure and calm environment in which everyone feels a sense of belonging,
· a caring ethos in which everyone is valued and respected.

It is a school where
children discover the champion within themselves.

This is Churchwood Community Primary School

Welcome from the Head Teacher

On behalf of the staff and governors I welcome you to Churchwood School. Our School is a community primary school providing education for children between the ages of three and eleven. It is located in Church in the Wood Lane next to the Church in the Wood Church.  (The building is light and spacious and surrounded by ancient woodland.) We have 220 children at the school organised into 7 single age classes and a thriving nursery. We also run a toddler group on Monday afternoons.

We seek to provide a warm, caring, stimulating environment which provides high quality learning.  We have high expectations of our pupils and aim for them to reach their full potential with a high level of self esteem, good personal discipline and a respectful attitude towards others.  We firmly believe in working closely with our parents/carers and the wider local community.
