Etchingham CE School - Where Every Child Matters

Welcome to Etchingham Church of England School. I am delighted that you have chosen to consider our school for your child’s education. Etchingham is a small, rural school, with an intake of about 15 children each year.

All of the children live in the village or villages close by. We have always attained very good results, but this is not the only reason that we are a good school. The staff here have many years teaching experience and they know that children learn best in a happy and secure environment. We ensure that the ethos of the school is based on  Christian principles coupled with high expectations for all.

That is why we believe that a strong partnership between home and school is crucial to your child developing their full potential. The curriculum is taught in an integrated way with emphasis on creativity. Children’s work and achievements are regularly celebrated by staff and parents.

This web site is designed to give you a taste of life at our school, but there is no substitute for the real thing. Please come and visit the school and see for yourselves!

Welcome to the FOES

For parents who are new to the school, and as a reminder to everyone, the FOES (Friends of Etchingham School) organises FUN fund raising events to enable the school to purchase items and contribute to projects not covered by the school budget.  These can either be large  or small items - for example, in 2006 so far, the FOES  have bought combination TV/Video sets, cameras and paid for Carol Havard from Art Techniques to come and work with the children for a day.

Other monies raised will be allocated to items requested by staff and pupils and the list of items purchased will be published on this website as well as in the regular FOES Newsletter.

All parents and staff are automatically members of the FOES however we are organised by a Committee which meets usually once a month to plan and arrange events (with more frequent meetings prior to events) and are supported by many parents and staff who offer their time to assist by helping at events in a variety of ways.

If you are interested in either joining the committee or adding your name to the contact list of helpers - to facilitate our organisation of events - then please either come along to the AGM or drop your contact details (name/phone no/e-mail address) in the FOES box by the main entrance.
