Robsack Wood is a Community Primary School for children aged 3 months to 11 years. It was opened in September 1991 and is of modern design. It possesses good facilities including a fully equipped, on-line ICT suite. In addition, it boasts a small community block consisting of a sports hall, showers, changing rooms and meeting room.

The school has its own environmental area, and together with our other teaching resources enables us to deliver a rich, balanced and varied curriculum. In January 1995, we opened our new purpose built Nursery. The Nursery offers 50 places (25 morning and 25 afternoon) for children aged 3+. The school has recently (March 2001) had an excellent OFSTED and a full report can be collected from the office. With regard to the Quality of Teaching and Learning, 100% of the lessons observed were considered good or better with 64% very good. This is something of which we are very proud.

EDUCATION

The content of the curriculum and the method of learning are of crucial and equal importance at primary level. We believe that the atmosphere, attitudes and organisation of our school are as important educationally as the knowledge and skills which are learned.

Our curriculum is broad and covers a wide range of subjects. There are 10 subject areas plus RE and PSHE in the National Curriculum which we teach across Key Stages1 and 2- Nursery and Reception (Foundation Key Stage) have a separate curriculum, details of which are posted on the Nursery page. In addition, we offer opportunities that we think are important in the education of the 'whole' child. In line with Government policy Robsack wood School continues to place Literacy and Numeracy as a top priority within the school curriculum. Along with ICT and Science, these form what is known as the Core Curriculum. Literacy and Numeracy are planned for using the National Strategy Frameworks, and for ICT and Science we follow the QCA Schemes of Work.

We continue to keep breadth and balance in our curriculum, and follow the QCA Schemes of Work for all other subjects - known as the Foundation Subjects.
