EDUCATION

At Skippers Hill " The Foundation Stage " incorporates Early Years Education for four year olds in the Reception class.

Our aim is to provide a stimulating, friendly and happy environment where the children can enjoy their first experience of structured play and learning, increasing in confidence while building strong foundations for their transition to Years 1 and 2 of the Junior School.

Specialist staff give expert tuition in Music, PE and Dance; good use is made of school facilities such as the Music Room, Swimming Pool, Gym and extensive grounds.

Eligible children who attend the Foundation Stage at Skippers Hill are entitled to subscribe to the EYEE funding

Children learn by suggestion, investigation, trial and error. In the Junior School, we aim to engender a love of learning by creating an environment where they will feel confident to explore their ideas and fulfil their developing aspirations.

While we have high academic expectations for the children in our care, we consider the development of confidence, self-esteem, motivation, discipline and self-reliance to be no less important, if they are to become independent learners and take their place in our thriving Senior School.

In Years 3 to 8, a broad and balanced curriculum is offered, which meets the needs of the individual within the developing needs of our School and Society. Pupils are prepared for Key Stage 2 Tests and for Common Entrance or Scholarship to Public Schools at 13.

Years 3 and 4 are taught mainly by their Form Teachers with some input from Subject specialists who also teach the listed subjects in Years 5 to 8
