Welcome to Southover School
A school working in partnership with East Sussex County Council

We are delighted to welcome you to our school and hope that you find our website helpful.

You will find answers to the most frequently asked questions here, as well as contact information. Our children, staff, Governors and Acting Head Teacher, Mr Noel Fadden are always happy to welcome visitors and share the wonderful work we do.

Please note that many pages on the website need a username and password.  This is available from the school office - please do ask!

To contact us: click here to email the office, or use this form to send a message to the school office.

Football News: First games of the season took place this week with Iford and Kingston visiting Southover. The A team won 3-1 in a closely fought game and a strong B team managed a 7 - 0 win against a brave but unlucky visiting team. Well done to all the players from both sides and congratulations to those Southover players representing the school for the first time!

Music: A wonderful opportunity for all Y3/4 children to learn to play the fife has started this term. They will be bringing the instruments home to practise and will have special tuition in school on Fridays.

Clubs: Our long list of clubs can be found on the latest circular. Most clubs are up and running so if you want to join in, from football and drumming to knitting and Latin, then please check the circular.

INSET Days: The INSET days for this term are confirmed as being Nov 5th and 6th. Further details of dates are available on the latest newsletter.

Moving On: All at Southover send their best wishes to all the children who moved on to their secondary schools at the end of term. We also wish the best of luck to Mrs Forbes and Mr Whitelaw on their wonderful secondments, and to Mr Heath's promotion to Deputy Head at his new school.

Leavers' slideshow: Mrs Forbes created a terrific slideshow, which the children enjoyed, showing the leavers' progress through the school.  It brought back many memories and took Mrs Forbes a long time!

Sports Days: the children have really enjoyed their sports days.  Thanks to all those helped things run smoothly and those who took photos.  I've put most of the photos we have on these galleries so you might see your child if you couldn't make it on the day.  The gallery might take a short while to load.  You can click on a photo and then use the arrow keys to see other photos - juniors  infants

Photos: 5/6 have recently been upto lots of things, including art at the Railway Land, a week away at the Isle of Wight, and taking part in the PATINA Moving On Parade - take a look

Animations: 5/6 have been exploring the animations that PowerPoint can produce, and using them to showcase our sense of humour(?) - take a look

Gold Room Maths: have a look at Mr Whitelaw's blog if you're in his maths group - click here

Revising for your SATs?

You'll want to walk into the tests feeling ready to shine, so remember that preparation is the key to feeling confident during the week. You've been working really hard and should all be feeling pretty good about it all.  If you want to, you might find these wesbites useful: revisewise, science clips, mathszone.
