Welcome to St Richard's Catholic College ''A Beacon College Sharing and Promoting Good Practice'' St Richard's Catholic College is a co-educational 11-16 school offering a Christian education to pupils of all abilities within the deaneries of Eastbourne and St Leonard's in the Diocese of Arundel and Brighton.

We aim to develop the academic, social and spiritual aspirations of each individual pupil in our care.We believe that St Richard's offers high academic standards with equally high levels of discipline and behaviour within a happy, caring and purposeful community atmosphere.

OFSTED (September 2001) described St Richard's as 'a community united by a clear and singular purpose: that of providing the best education for the pupils in its care'. Pupils were seen to be 'thriving academically and socially' and 'demonstrating great sensitivity and consideration of others'. Additionally, pupils with 'special educational needs are very well supported' and 'each pupil is highly valued and regarded as precious'.

St Richard's Catholic College is 'a very good school' and has achieved Beacon status twice following very successful OFSTED inspections. We have recently applied for Leading Edge status and we have also been awarded Specialist Science status. If you would like further details about the school then please feel free to telephone for a copy of our prospectus and our latest OFSTED reports.

St Richards enjoys extensive community links on a local, national and international level.

Locally we enjoy strong links with our 4 Catholic Primary Schools:
St. Mary Magdalene
St. Mary Star of the Sea
Sacred Heart
St. Thomas of Becket

Working with them we provide a detailed liaison programme ensuring that transition at eleven is trouble-free.

Locally we also get involved in a range of community projects fundraising and helping out. Our year 10 pupils on their weeks vocational experience placement enjoy working with businesses in the surrounding areas.

We also enjoy extensive links with our Parishes and our local newspaper The Bexhill Observer.

Naturally we have been recognized as a Beacon School, consequently a number of projects we set up annually to share practice with other secondary schools. There are a number of national Charities and Appeals which the pupils support.

Internationally we endeavor to support fundraising projects further afield and we have given enthusiastic support to Jubilee 2000.

Through our community links program, we aim to develop the whole person and we are pleased with the results as many of our pupils continue to support community projects once they have moved on from St Richards.
