Welcome to Stonelands Ballet and Theatre Arts School

Stonelands Stage School is a full-time Theatre Arts and Dance Ballet School operational in Hove /Brighton since 1989 with a reputation both international and national, second to none.

It is the aim of the Drama Schools to encourage children and adults alike to work together as part of an efficient team, regardless of age, Acting Auditions ability, colour or creed. Good private citizenship we believe, stems from sound and constant early training, all children are, therefore, encouraged and rewarded for a conscientious approach towards others and their needs and also to respect their surroundings.

As a continuation from the thought that children should not necessarily be segregated by age, the Performing Arts School encourages children to work at a level suitable to them. In this way it is possible for more able pupils to transfer to a higher group as soon as they are ready rather than waiting chronologically. Many private children are encouraged to sit GCSE subjects prior to Year 11, some are able to take one or two subjects in Year 9 and several in Year 10, thereby leaving Year 11 (their important audition year) comparatively free.

For those less able, small class groups and a caring approach help to build confidence and enhance self-esteem. Children flourish quite undoubtedly due mainly to the fact that they are part of a small, close-knit community, where they are encouraged to progress as INDIVIDUALS and not as one of a crowd. It is my firm belief that each child’s individual talent should be recognised, embraced and applauded and that it is quite wrong to compare one child with the next standing close by. Each of our children is unique and deserves the right to grow and explore his/or her talents without comparison to their piers.  In this way children gain: confidence in THEMSELVES, increased security, and in time attain their full potential.  All children mature at different rates – some gain confidence at an early age whilst others do not find their feet until much later.

Above all, Stonelands Theatre School provides a happy and stimulating learning environment in which children are nurtured to expand their knowledge both academic and vocational.

Hove station is close by and London Victoria only 50 minutes away by train. Gatwick Airport and channel ferries are within easy reach. Minutes from Brighon town centre

Diana Carteur is an agent in her own right, and all children are encouraged to register wih the agency, although this is not compulsory. Children from the Stage School have successfully auditioned for numerous West End musicals, films and television series.
