Anlaby Junior School

At Anlaby Junior School we believe that every child should be encouraged, supported and challenged to reach their full potential.

We believe it is important that children are given access to all aspects of the curriculum in a caring and sensitive environment which helps them to develop socially, morally and academically into well rounded members of the school and wider community.

The ten subjects which comprise the National Curriculum: English, Mathematics, Science, ICT, Technology, History, Geography, Art, Music and PE, together with RE, are all taught by the school.

Whilst each area has its own discrete knowledge, skills and concepts, the lessons are structured in ways, which allow for cross-curricular key skills such as problem solving, working as part of a team, communication and using ICT.

The children's spiritual, moral, social, cultural, personal and social development is catered for through the taught curriculum, but also through assemblies, residential visits and the ways in which we interact with one another around school.

The Themes for 2006 are:

Year Group

The Tudors, Life in a village in India, Heroes and Saints

Victorian Children, Victorian Changes, Preachers and Teachers - investigating the life of St Paul

Childhood during World War 2, Britain since 1948
