... to the web pages of Ganton Special School. Ganton is a school for young people (aged between 3 and 19) who have Severe Learning difficulties. It is situated just outside the City of Hull, in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. Here at Ganton we are very proud of the exciting things we do, the quality of the teaching we provide for all our pupils and students and the happy, friendly atmosphere which awaits all our visitors. We hope that you will share in our pride as you look through these pages, which have been prepared by members of staff, and the children and young adults who come to Ganton.

Here is Dianne's class doing a science experiment. They were trying to see what objects they could blow over with a hairdryer. All the activities in the lower school are exciting and fun. Look at how bright and interesting the walls are.

Buns for Africa

The pupils in Y 7 -9 have been raising money for poor children in Africa by baking and selling buns each week during the summer. This enterprise started three years ago with the multicutural African topic and has grown into a solid little business making about £15 each week. The proceeds will be sent to a charity known as The White Sisters for their self -help projects on the African continent. Parents and friends of the school have helped with the provision of buns to sell and this has been greatly appreciated.

The 16+ centre is for young adults who have passed school leaving age. Here students can find out about the opportunities open to them in adult life. This may involve trying out courses at local colleges, doing some work experience, or participating in the many interesting courses and activities offered both on site and in the local community.
