Welcome to Keldmarsh Primary School!

Our aim is to provide the very best opportunities for each child to develop their full potential, whether it may be academic, sporting or creative. It is important that they enjoy school, work hard and feel a real sense of achievement.

At Keldmarsh we encourage children to care, share and respect and we strongly believe that if everyone works as a team the school will be a happy place where everyone can do their best. Therefore it is really important for home / school links to be strong so that we can achieve all that we want for our children.

Head Teacher:
Mrs C Padgett

Class Organisation:

Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1

Teaching and learning in our foundation stage and in key stage 1 is through a thematic (topic) based approach. The use of themes enables the teachers to provide a relevant, cohesive, progressive experience to meet the needs of young learners.

 Key Stage 2

In delivering the school curriculum w have adopted a subject-based approach whereby each subject is taught separately. However, cross-curricular links are used where possible to support the teaching.

This system enables us to concentrate on specific programmes of study and ensure that we are delivering the full National Curriculum. Children may work individually, in groups or in whole class activities to provide the best opportunities for learning and development generally.

The style of the lessons may vary according to context and the needs of the pupils involved. The best interests of the children are the determining factor in all work planned and we endeavour to cater for individual need and progress at all levels.

More information on the organisation of our curriculum can be found in our school prospectus

School uniform is important at Keldmarsh, as we feel that it helps children to feel part of the school and creates a pride in their appearance, their work and their school. It is the governors' wish that all children wear the uniform for school.

Keldmarsh school uniform consists of:

  • Grey trousers, skirt or pinafore
  • Pale blue polo shirt
  • Navy blue sweatshirt with school logo *
  • White socks or dark tights
  • Plain black shoes or trainers
  • Pale blue and white check or stripe school dress
  • Pale blue polo shirt, grey skirt or shorts
  • Navy blue school sweatshirt or cardigan *

* Obtainable from school - an order form is available from school or can be downloaded here

PE kit

Children need a white t-shirt, navy shorts and plimsolls for PE. No football kit. Trainers are not allowed for indoor PE lessons, as they stop children from gripping on apparatus and can cause accidents.

Junior children will have the opportunity to play outdoor games and will need warm clothing and suitable footwear. Trainers are allowed for outdoor games.

Items of jewellery are not allowed in school, apart from a watch. Children are not allowed to wear earrings in school, however, if your child has newly pierced ears and studs are being worn until they are healed, they must be removed for school after the initial 6-week period.

Here you can find all our school's after hours activity clubs;

These clubs run from 3.30 - 4.30. Places are limited and a permission slip will be required for each club. Please check with the relevant teacher for availablity of places or for more information.
