ABOUT US

Welcome to Abbotsweld Primary School.

We believe that every child is entitled to a rich and varied, challenging and inspiring curriculum, which enables each one to fulfil his or her potential to the highest possible standard, and to also develop as a responsible and caring member of the school and of the community as a whole.  We therefore aim to:

  • Develop happy, well rounded individuals who have an enjoyment for learning.

  • Provide a rich and varied curriculum with an emphasis on literacy and numeracy.

  • Create a secure and stimulating environment for learning.

  • Encourage independent, questioning thinkers who communicate well and work co-operatively.

  • Foster and nurture the interests and talents of each child.

  • Promote self-esteem and a sense of pride in achieving the highest possible standard.

  • Develop respect and to value caring and sharing attitudes.

  • Promote high standards of responsible behaviour.

  • Prepare children for future educational development.

  • Extend children's understanding and knowledge of society and the environment, and develop an awareness of the world in which we live.

  • Involve parents and carers in their child's school life and encourage participation in their child's learning.

These aims guide the construction of our schemes of work, subject aims and objectives and various school policies.

A school brochure is available on request.
