Abbs Cross School and Arts College

Welcome

It gives me great pleasure to introduce you to Abbs Cross School and Arts College.

I hope that the information in this website will support any visit which we naturally encourage you to make to the school. Only then will you see that we demonstrate a 'commitment to opportunity and excellence'. Whilst we are very proud of our achievements we seek continually to improve upon the high quality of education we provide. Such improvements are tangible and seen through our recent designation as an Arts College. Our new Sports and Leisure Centre will also demonstrate our desire to provide the very best for our students.

Much of the good work of the school is built upon mutual respect. Pupils are at their most responsive when they are secure and happy. Our modern outlook is supported by a traditional approach. In providing a caring, supportive and disciplined environment our pupils develop a community spirit of which we are all proud.

Prince Charles' Visit

Our Chartermark, Investor in People, Sportsmark and Artsmark are all signs of national recognition which creates our unique learning environment.

The determination of the pupils, the dedication of the staff and the active partnership of parents and carers generates a learning establishment which equips the generation of tomorrow with the opportunity for developing the skills, knowledge and aptitude necessary for their future.

If you would like to be part of the Abbs Cross community then you would be most welcome. I hope you enjoy exploring the rest of this website and that our aims are synonymous with your own beliefs.

YEAR SIX FAQ

PERFORMING ARTS FACULTY

As we reach the end of our third year of performing arts designation, we look back at our achievements so far- and forward to the future with confidence.

The achievements of the last three years can be summed up by just reflecting on the highly successful Artsweek 2006, which we have just completed.

On Wednesday 28th June, we had activities ranging from synchronised swimming to steel pans, from Huge Science to Shakespeare stained glass, from jazz dance to drumming on old dust bins!

On Thursday 29th June, we took 600 staff and pupils to see ‘Blood Brothers’ at the Phoenix Theatre, Charing Cross road- a massive undertaking but one well appreciated by everybody concerned.

On Friday 30th June, our Year 7 and 8s showcased the work that they had been doing in Music and Dance to each other and their teachers. Every pupil in the two years had the opportunity to perform on stage. Meanwhile our Year 9s were taking part in an Enterprise day at City Limits in Collier Row.

On Monday 3rd July, we had our annual sports day- and Tuesday saw the annual visit to Thorpe Park- recognition of the hard work and commitment of our pupils not only during Artsweek but also the whole of the year.

Watch this page as it is developed and features far more of the activities of this innovative and exciting faculty
