Caterham High School
Caterham High is a mixed comprehensive school catering for approximately 1300 students of 11-18 years of age and is built on one site. It serves part of the Clayhall and Woodford Bridge areas of the London Borough of Redbridge. Clayhall itself is in the northern part of the Borough, not far from its boundary with the County of Essex, and is adjacent to some open country; both Hainault and Epping Forests are nearby. Most of the school’s catchment area consists of houses built during the 1930 -1950 period. There have also been several very recent developments in the area. The school currently draws from five local primary schools and has been fully subscribed for a number of years.
The School is housed in modern buildings with general teaching rooms alongside the extensive specialist teaching areas consisting of 8 Science laboratories, 3 Computer rooms, Art rooms, Resource Centre, Music suite with rehearsal rooms, Drama Studio, Design & Technology - Food and Textiles area, Design & Technology workshops, Media Studies suite and 2 fully equipped Business Technology rooms.
In addition to the indoor provision for sport, consisting of a heated swimming pool, large sports hall and gymnasium, there is a ‘Redgra’ all-weather play area and tennis courts on site, with extensive playing fields some minutes’ walk away.
The Sixth Form Suite enjoys spacious facilities for approximately 300 students who have access to all the equipment required for successful and enjoyable learning.
