"Pupils enjoy coming to school because they feel secure in a supported, disciplined environment" (OFSTED)
We place a high priority on pastoral care at The Chafford. A teamof Year Heads, each with a deputy to assist them, liaises closely with form tutors to provide leadership, guidance and support for all students. The Head of Year 7 is static to allow good liaison with the primary schools. Other Year Heads move up through the school with their year group. The work of the Pastoral Team is co-ordinated by a member of the Leadership Team, who has the support of the Senior Pastoral Tutor.
The Chafford School aims to provide continuity in students' education through regular contact with partner primary schools.
When new Year 7 students arrive they have already met Year 8 'Buddies' who will be their guides through the first year and beyond.
Bullying is not tolerated. We have an Anti-Bullying Committee of the School Council as well as a group of students who are trained as peer mentors. These students are linked to Year 7 tutor groups to provide support whenever necessary.
School life can sometimes be challenging for students - as they settle in or during exams, for example. We recognise this and provide additional support in the form of Learning Mentors and a Family Support Worker. Regular meetings are offered where parents can come and find out about educational issues in a friendly atmosphere. |
