Our school was founded in 1846 to provide education according to the principles and practices of the Church of England.

The school moved from its original premises to its present site in 1987. An extension was completed in April 1994 providing us with an ICT Suite and two more classrooms, bringing our total to six.

During the summer of 2002 we had a roof placed on the quad. This allowed the school to have a new library and resource area,  as well as a room for children requiring help with Special Educational Needs.

The school is now controlled by its Governing Body under the policies of Local Management of Schools (LMS).

COMMUNICATION

If at any time you have a concern about any aspect of your child's education please do not wait for an official parent/teacher meeting, but make an appointment to discuss the issue with the class teacher or, if necessary, with the Head or Deputy Head Teacher.  We are able to resolve the great majority of problems this way.

We operate a weekly "Parent/Teacher Surgery" system during the Autumn and Spring terms. Parents are informed which regular day of the week is available for Parent/Teacher private consultations. Using the weekly system parents book an appointment to speak to the class teacher about their child's attitude, behaviour and educational progress. Only three children are discussed each afternoon, starting with appointments at 3.30pm.

So far almost all parents have been able to make arrangements for these appointments, usually twice in a year.  If it is impossible for a parent to commit to an afternoon throughout the entire year, other arrangements may be made after discussion with the Head Teacher.  All appointments for Parent/Teacher interviews are made through the office.

Parent/Teacher discussions focus on each child's achievements, effort and attitude. Each child receives a written report at the end of the summer term, which indicates the level of achievements in each area of the curriculum and future targets in the core subjects. Information about SAT or QCA scores/levels are specified.
