Friends' School is a small, family-orientated school with a very strong sense of community. We provide education for children from three to eighteen years, and are co-educational throughout with an even balance of boys and girls. The boarders play an important part of the school community, and we have a lively extracurricular and weekend programme in which all children may take part.

High standards of teaching will help your child to reach his or her full potential, but we set out to provide a much broader foundation for the future. We believe in the importance of social skills, service to others and self confidence without conceit. Your child will have opportunities in a wide range of cultural, creative and physical activities within a community which values and respects individuals, celebrates achievement and broadens perspective. True to our Quaker heritage, we seek 'that of God' in everyone.

My vision is of a school that is not divided by design or culture; a school with high academic standards and expert support for those that need it; firm but fair discipline; breadth of opportunity and happy children who feel secure and cherished. Friends' School has a great past and an even greater future - I sincerely hope that your child will be part of it.

Your child will join a school that recognises their potential in all areas of the curriculum. Whether they join Friends' in the Junior or Senior School, the focus will be on academic progress within a framework of all-round development.

At Friends' School, your child will find a strong sense of community that unites all members of the school - boarding and day pupils, teaching and non-teaching staff - regardless of age or position. We believe that learning happens most effectively when relationships are based on mutual trust. This supportive environment results in secure, happy students who are able to meet intellectual, creative and physical challenges with confidence throughout their school career.

Quakers believe that there is something of God in everyone. This belief influences all relationships within Friends' School and creates an environment where your child will be treated as an individual and integrated into the community. Individuality is cherished and pupils and staff show respect for the dignity of others.

It is because of the Quaker heritage of the school that we welcome children from all religious faiths, as well as those with none. While our assemblies are based on Quaker silent worship, they are inclusive and respect the religious backgrounds of all our pupils.
