Our school is in Harwich Essex, England. Our school is 103 years old.
The building has always been a school; in the Victorian times it was a school for girls and infants. Over the years our school has improved by having a Nursery, school Garden and a Computer Suite.
Hi! My name is Becky. When I first started at Harwich Community School, it seemed like a boring place with a tarmac playground, no computer suite and also there was no Nursery.
Hi! My name is Melissa and when I started at Harwich Community Primary School, in March this year, I found it much more exciting than my previous school. The Garden is wonderful and the school has a Computer Suite. This school is much friendlier than my old school in Chelmsford. Our school was built in Victorian times(1896) and our head teacher has been here since those Victorian times (we think!) although he has mentioned the dinosaurs!
We also have a School Council which is run by 12 children and our deputy head teacher.
We have 7 teachers and a Special Needs teacher called Mrs Boley.
The teachers in Key Stage 2 are Mrs King who teaches Years 5 & 6, Mr Spencer who also teaches years 5 & 6 and Mrs Carter who teaches years 3 & 4. The teachers who teach Key Stage 1 are Mrs Hughes who teaches in the Nursery, Mrs James who teaches year R, Mrs Dace who teaches year 1 and Mrs Heath teaches year 2.
Our school logo is two lighthouses at the edge of the sea because there are two lighthouses in Harwich. They are called the High Lighthouse and the Low Lighthouse. The Low Lighthouse is a museum called The Maritime Museum. The high lighthouse isn't used now either because the channel is always changing. The Trinity House Organisation has put buoys into the sea to guide the ships through the safe, deeper channel.
There are many different clubs at our school, such as recorder club, gardening club and sports clubs.
Trips vary with the different clubs & classes.
One trip some years 5 & 6 went on last year was to Matlock, in Derbyshire, for a week. It was really good fun and, speaking for myself I (Becky) was pleased to get away from my big brother! I am sure that the trip next year will be just as much fun.
