Purford Green Infant School
Purford Green, CM18 6HP, UK Harlow

Purford Green Infant school opened in 1956 as a neighbourhood school in the Brays Grove catchment area.  The building is clean, bright and attractive with lots of space.

There are six large classrooms with cloakrooms and toilets.  One has been converted into a computer suite, but each classroom has its own computers, printers and Internet access.
The school has an attractive assembly hall equipped for PE and music.  We also have our own medical room.
There is a happy and friendly atmosphere which is evident throughout the school.  The grounds of the school are attractively planted with trees, shrubs, rose bushes etc. and we have a small teaching area for science including herb gardens, a wild area, insect attracting shrubs and a bog garden.
We instil a sense of pride in our children and encourage them to look after all the lovely things around them, making this a happy, caring school.

School uniform is compulsory in order to promote a sense of community among the children.  The uniform colours are dark green and grey.

Grey trousers and skirts are readily available from many clothing retailers.  In the summer the girls can wear green check dresses and the boys may wear grey shorts.  A full uniform list is available from the School Office.

Uniform is available from Top Form in the Stow, who can be contacted on telephone number 01279 434813.

All children must change for P.E. and games.  They will need a drawstring bag marked with their name in which to keep their P.E. and games kit.

Book bags and PE bags are available to buy from the school office.

No child under 5 years old has to come to school but we have an excellent Early Years Unit which offers a great opportunity to younger children.

From September 2007, children whose 5th birthdays are between 1st September 2007 and 31st August 2008 will be able to start school for a full day at the beginning of the Autumn Term.

Letters will be sent to parents of any new Reception children during the previous summer term offering a school place.  Each new parent will be invited to an admissions meeting, which is held in the Summer term.
