Primary Leadership Programme

This has two main aims:
To raise educational standards by improving the quality of teaching and learning
To develop the leadership of adults within the school
At Roach Vale we are particularly focussing on improving the quality of teaching and learning in writing and basic number skills. Targets for these areas are set for all children and are displayed around the classrooms so that the children can keep referring to them. All of the children are regularly assessed to ensure they are making progress against their targets.
Schools Sports Partnership
This is a government-funded initiative that aims to raise the amount of physical activity each child takes part in at school, both inside and outside the curriculum.

At present there is a requirement for all children to have at least 2 hours of P.E. per week within the curriculum, and we are looking at a range of ways of meeting this requirement here at Roach Vale.
Primary Learning Network
This initiative enables schools within a small area to work together to share best practice. Again it aims at raising standards, and will particularly focus on supporting and enhancing the development of writing in Key Stage 1.

All three initiatives are helping Roach Vale towards its aim of being a centre of excellence.
