The children at Runwell Community Primary are all special, but for those who require extra help or provision our aim is to promote a happy school environment that provides positive inclusion and strives for excellence in all fields.
All the teachers at Runwell work closely with the Special Needs
Coordinator (SENCo), and her team of motivated and inspirational
teaching assistants to provide a good quality of education for
each child, tailored to their individual needs.
Each child on our “Special Needs Register” is given an “Individual
Education Plan” that details achievable targets on a termly basis.
The child is helped to work towards these targets both during whole
class lessons, as well as in small group and individual sessions with the SENCo
and teaching assistants.
The aim of SEN at Runwell is to provide a fully rounded education. Thus purely academic studies are in addition to our highly successful “Motor Skills Club”, and more recently a handwriting club and a computer club, all of which take place during the school day. Children taking part in these initiatives are already reaping the benefits.
We try to identify children experiencing difficulties as early as possible in their school career. We encourage parents to be closely involved in supporting their child, and for this reason the SENCo is readily available to discuss any worries or problems; just give the office a call to arrange an appointment.
Runwell is a school where children of all backgrounds and abilities are given the opportunity to develop their talents within a strong caring community. |
