Sir Charles Lucas is a designated Performing Arts College. We have had this specialist schools status since 2001 and have recently applied to continue our Arts College status.

As a specialist Arts College, students benefit from superb facilities in all four Arts areas – Music, Dance, Drama and Art. All areas have been recently refurbished and house the latest equipment and resources for us within lessons and in after school activities.

All students in KS3 study music, dance, drama and art for 100 minutes every fortnight. All students at KS4 are able to choose to do at least one Arts subject at GCSE and many choose to do two different subjects. Our GCSE results within the Arts Faculty are very good and amongst the highest in the College, as well as across the County.

As well as our work within College, we do a lot of work with our feeder primary schools and within the local community. Performing Arts staff lead regular session in primary schools, teaching arts based skills and concepts to the students. Students from our primary schools also frequently visit us to take part in workshops and performances and well as to watch our annual musical production. Sir Charles Lucas Arts College is proud to work within the community and regularly performs at local old peoples homes, in the community centre and in St Andrews Church. Art work is displayed at the local library as well as at galleries in the town and we regularly take part in local festivals and performances at the Mercury Theatre.
