Mrs F M Booker

St Clare's Primary School is voluntary aided and located in Clacton on Sea Essex.  The children's ages range from 4-11.

Negotiations to build St. Clare's Roman Catholic Primary School were begun in October 1966 by Sister Agatha and the Franciscan Sisters who wished to replace their existing private School with a Voluntary Aided one.  Subsequently, this School was opened in January 1970 replacing St Clare's Convent School.  The school provides a Christian education within the Catholic tradition within the Parish of Clacton and subject to places being available will accept children from outside our Parish who reside in Brightlingsea, Great Bentley, Frinton, Walton, Thorpe, Kirby and Point Clear.

Foundation Stage (Reception) and Key Stage 1 (Year 1 and Year 2) are housed in a purpose built block, which was opened on 23rd April 1998 by Sister Carmel Brennan, a previous head of the school and a member of the Franciscan community in Clacton.

Key Stage 2 (Years 3 to 6) is located in the main building which also houses the Headteacher's Office, the Administrative Office, the School Hall, ICT Suite, Library and Staff Room.

In our words and deeds we aim to follow the truths of the gospels, so that our daily lives may be living proof of our faith.

We aim to foster and develop the sense of belonging to the family of God, to affirm the values of the Catholic Church and to foster relationships with the home and parishes that we serve.

We aim to provide the opportunities for each individual to be aware of his / her holiness and importance to God.

The School aims to provide a secure caring environment in which all are valued and learn to value others.

The School will encourage openness and provide opportunities for all to be part of its growth and development.

In valuing the individuals within our School we aim to provide a rich and stimulating curriculum that will lead each child to his / her full potential.  As appropriate we will build upon and develop the skills necessary for future life.

To Achieve These Aims The School Will:-

Try in our daily dealings with each other to show:

Treat all children fairly and honestly so that they will recognise and value this quality.

1. The Parents Will

 ·  Support and help to develop the Religious Ethos of the School.

  ·  See that their child comes to School regularly, on time and organised and prepared for the School day, in full School uniform.

  ·  Keep the School informed of changes in home circumstances, medical information and ensure contact numbers are up to date.

  ·  Ensure the School is notified of their child’s absence on the first day and send an absence note on their child’s return to School.

  ·  Attend Open Evenings to discuss their child’s progress / curriculum matters.

  ·  Support their child in homework and other opportunities for home learning.

  ·  Support and reinforce the School’s discipline and behaviour policies.

  ·  Obtain the School’s consent before planning to take their child on holiday during term time.

  2.The School Will:

·  Encourage the children to take care of their surroundings and others around them.

·  Provide a caring, secure learning environment based on Catholic Church values in which each child is stimulated to achieve his / her full potential, and give of their best at all times.

·  Provide a balanced curriculum and meet the individual needs of each child.

·  Inform you or your child’s progress and provide an annual written report.

·  Inform you about what we aim to teach your child.

 · Set homework appropriate to the child’s age and in line with School Policy.

·  Keep parents informed about School activities through regular letters.

·  Investigate all complaints in a sensitive manner and respond in writing where necessary.

  3.  The Children Will:

·  Keep hands, feet and objects to themselves.

·  Speak to and treat everyone with kindness and respect.

·  Take care of their surroundings.
