Welcome to St John’s School located in Billericay, Essex. The School is situated in extensive grounds overlooking Lake Meadows, a beautiful area of parkland, including sports fields, an indoor swimming pool and other sporting facilities that are used extensively by the pupils. The School is well connected by public transport to neighbouring towns, and is a short walk from the mainline Railway Station.

St John’s School is divided into two departments, Preparatory from 3-11 years, and Senior from 11-16 years.

St John’s School is able to offer an excellent education giving continuity for learning from three years to sixteen years. We engender a family atmosphere that all pupils and their parents enjoy. Our facility to teach our pupils up to GCSE allows us the pleasure of sharing in their success.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR

SPORTING AND EXTRA CURRICULAR OPPORTUNITIES

St John's School offers a wide variety of sporting and extra curricular activities.

The importance of sport as both a recreational activity and as a basis of good health is recognised within the School. A wide range of activities are available as part of the curriculum and on a voluntary extra curricular basis. Teams regularly take part in ISAI competitions and play against neighbouring Independent and State Schools.

Drama productions are held throughout the year, and individual drama and speech lessons are available enabling pupils to compete for Poetry Society Awards. Pupils achieve continual success in poetry reading competitions and public and choral speaking.

Pupils enjoy a wide and varied range of extra curricular activities, musical instrument tuition and many lunchtime clubs.

EDUCATION

St John’s Preparatory School is divided into two departments:
Kindergarten - from 3 - 7 years
Juniors - from 8 - 11 years

The overall ethos is to use positive motivation and reinforcement at all times, producing children who are proud of their own achievements, feel successful and who are constantly stretched to their own individual potential.

A broad and varied curriculum based on national guidelines has been devised using the expertise of committed and experienced teachers, culminating in the Key Stage Two testing at eleven years.

St John's Senior School is for students aged from 11 - 16 years.

We aim to:

  • Allow pupils to develop as individuals
  • Stimulate their intellectual ability, enthusiasm and imagination
  • Help pupils acquire the habit of hard work and careful study
  • Teach the value of self discipline, integrity and a concern for others
  • Develop self-confidence and independence so that pupils are well equipped to play an active part in society

In acknowledging the National Curriculum the School remains committed to teaching other skills and subjects required in adulthood, such as health education, social education, communication and study skills.
