About the school - welcome

Welcome to St. Peter’s CE Primary School website. St. Peter’s is a Church of England Primary School where quality of learning is our priority, enabling every pupil to achieve their full potential within a caring Christian community.

St. Peter’s school has served the children of South Weald since 1857 and it has built up a fine reputation for good all round education.

The school was founded by the church to provide education according to the principles and practices of the Church of England. Being a Church Foundation we are grant aided by the Department for Education and Employment, and maintained by the Local Authority.

As a Church School we foster a particular ethos which rests on:

  • Care and respect for others;
  • An appreciation of the love and wonder of God;
  • Daily collective worship within a Christian tradition;
  • Celebrating diversity within school and the wider community;
  • Respect for other cultures and faiths;
  • Inclusive practices with a commitment to providing equal opportunities for all;
  • Maintaining high expectations in every aspect of school life;
  • A whole school commitment to promote healthy safe behaviours and reduce health inequalities;
  • The development of content, happy, independent learners

Our aims are for all pupils

  • To develop academically, socially, physically, emotionally, culturally and spiritually within a Christian ethos so that they achieve their potential
  • To develop individuality, self-esteem and self-reliance
  • To develop levels of attainment, maturity and independence which will enable them to follow suitable and satisfying occupations, leading fulfilled lives in the future
  • To develop respect for other people
  • To enjoy a wide range of educational experiences and develop broad and balanced learning skills
  • To become independent learners who value education and know how to improve
  • To be aware of and, as appropriate involved in the community
  • To develop a clear understanding of the Christian faith
