Why Business and Enterprise?

When selecting a specialism we wished to ensure that we selected an area that we believed could impact positively on all areas of the curriculum and was in keeping with the schools philosophy and the aspirations of our local community.

For our students this will mean: -

  • An Increase in option choices at KS4.
  • More specialist teachers.
  • A dedicated Business and Enterprise manager.
  • More planned opportunities to develop the skills of enterprise, self-reliance and problem solving across their subjects.
  • Business and Enterprise activity days in each year.
  • Opportunities to set up their own business.
  • More mentoring within school.
  • Running the School bank with HSBC.

For our local schools this will mean: -

  • Closer links with our local schools.
  • Technical support and resources for our partner primaries.
  • Support for local schools in recruiting high quality teaching staff.
  • More collaborative working with SEEVIC and other post 16 providers.
  • Ongoing staff training opportunities.

For the local community this will mean: -

  • Maths, Business and ICT courses for parents and other members of the community.
  • Support and training opportunities for local small businesses and individuals. Click here for details.

Our status represents an exciting way forward for the Appleton school: students, staff and the wider community. We have the opportunity to build on excellent practice that has gone before to create our new school. The curriculum and the approaches to learning will be designed to meet the challenges of the changing business environment. The resources and building will support these approaches to education. Our success is dependent on the contributions of every one. If you would like more information please contact our Business and Enterprise Manager Mrs. G Farrance
