William Martin Junior School

Welcome to William Martin Junior school. We are a junior school with 8 classes, 2 per year group, with approximately 250 pupils aged from 7 to 11. The present school was built in 1958 and is situated on a large site of approximately 5 acres which we share with the Infant School. We have spacious playing fields that accommodate football in the winter and rounders and athletics in the summer.

There is an L-shaped hard surface playground marked with a netball court and other playground games. There is also a climbing area.

A recent landscaping project has provided benches, trees and shrubs around the site. The school hall is used for assemblies, PE, music and drama and serves as a dining hall at lunchtime.

Ofsted report
The latest Ofsted inspection of the school took place in December 2006.  If you would like to see the full report, it is available from the Ofsted website.

'All Welcome'

If you feel you want to be more involved with your child's school and are interested in organising or helping out with fundraising events, why don't you come along on the 30th October and maybe join the committee. We are a friendly group of Mums, Dads, Nans & Granddads (and of course a few teachers) who just want to help raise much needed funds for the school. We meet every two/three months and discuss ways of raising funds and organising events. We are in need of lots more volunteers who have bright ideas and lots of enthusiasm. Come on it will be fun!

Refreshments will be served, so pop along (no pressure) and see how we can all support the school.

Elections will take place on the night for any person wishing to stand on the committee.

You may wish to nominate somebody to become one of the lead officers on the committee.  If so, please click on the link below to print out a copy of the above letter + nomination form.  The form should be signed by yourself, have a second signature of somebody that agrees with your nomination and be returned to the school office before the AGM.

THANK YOU!

That's a big 'thank you' to everybody who supported the Summer Fair on 10th June.  We managed to make around £3,200 profit, money which will be passed on to the Infant and Junior schools.  The Junior school has plans to spend the money on new furniture for Year 6, additional reading books and roller blinds for the classrooms.

The School Run (Newsletter)
The new-look, full colour HSA newsletter (now known as 'The School Run') has recently been produced and sent home with all children.
