Victoria Road School

Excellence in teaching, enjoyment of learning...

Our aim at Victoria Road is to create a positive, stimulating and happy environment through which all children will achieve success and develop their potential to the full.

Our Aims are as follows:

•To develop social maturity, self respect and respect for others

•For children to have the opportunity to express themselves through music, drama, dance and performance

•To keep parents fully informed about their child’s education and to ensure that there is a two-way communication at all times

•Reach standards in Literacy, Numeracy and Science commensurate with each child’s ability

•For children to experience a wide range of sports and activities and foster a healthy lifestyle

•For children to experience a broad and balanced curriculum in the humanities and other foundation subjects.

A curriculum for learning and achievement

The Freedom to Flourish initiative emphasises the importance which the Isle of Man Government attaches to education.  It indicates to all members of the community, the significance placed upon learning and achievement.  It is recognised that there is a need to provide a strong lead by setting high expectations for pupils within an aspirational curriculum, a curriculum which is capable of evolving to meet new societal and technological demands in a rapidly changing world; a curriculum which is never static, but is ever changing in response to circumstances and gives children and young people “Freedom to Flourish”.

This video shows how the staff and pupils of Victoria Road School have embraced the Freedom to Flourish principles, using Castletown as the inspiration behind the curriculum which is delivered.
